Psalm 80 - Give Ear

In my 2002 album The Way My Story Goes, I was deliberately setting out to show forth Christ from Old Testament Bible stories. Jesus said that it all spoke of him, so this was not particularly difficult to do. But the old covenant being what it was, every effort fell short. They would try to be faithful, but continually slipped into apostasy.

Some of the saints of old recognised this, and one of them, Asaph by name, wrote it into his song. It lamented, it longed, it ached for the Man at God’s right hand, waiting long for God’s promised Messiah. It seemed so fitting for me to include a version of this psalm in that collection, so I wrote one from here.
